THE FIRST DREAM

When we speak about the history of dreams we are speaking about the dawn of time.

When did the first dream occur? Likely many millions of years ago during sleep a hairy creature saw an image of himself eating a plant he never put in his mouth before. Seeing this picture in his sleep gave him the clue that perhaps this plant is edible…

There’s an abundance of books that illuminate the role dreams have played in our survival and evolution as a species. Our Dreaming Mind by Robert L. Van De Castle, PH.D. is a 500 page book documenting the significant changes that have occurred in the world of art, music, drama, literature, films, architecture, politics, military conquest, athletic performance, scientific discovery, and religion … because somebody acted upon inspirational imagery revealed in a dream. You can also find many sources that speak about our ancestors’ experiences with dreams. In my monthly newsletter I share the treasures that have inspired my journey over the years. Even though I’ve enjoyed reading books led by the content revealed through my dreams, my big love has always been the dreamwork itself.

In the Mohawk language, the word for shaman or healer is ratetshents, which means “dreamer.”

THOSE WHO WORK WITH THEIR DREAMS REALIZE TWO THINGS

I am endlessly fascinated by the continuous stream of critically important information that pours through our dreaming channel. For me and those I work with, who have decided to take their dreams more seriously, what becomes apparent is two things.

First you realize there is a direct connection between your dreams and your waking life. That in itself is beyond exciting. It is as though you suddenly dropped through the thick physical layers of existence and in your own small yet significant way landed in direct dialogue with the great mystery of life. Bewildering and true.

It also becomes evident that the vital messages being delivered through our dreams hold the potential to balance our daily behaviours, to heal our wounds and pain, to warn us of potential hazards, to direct us towards our deeper desires, to evolve us towards the bigger life that awaits us. This kind of precise information is really hard to come by – anywhere.

“Your dreams are waiting for you to notice them, remember them, give them attention, hear them, move with them, and weave their insights into your life’s journey.” -Dr. Christopher Sowton

WHAT WOULD YOU USE THIS WORK FOR?

Health. Money. Love. Family. Work. Purpose. Life. As you can imagine, you could be dreaming about absolutely anything. What you will be dreaming about is exactly what is most helpful and urgent for you to see from the soul’s perspective and sometimes it’s not what your ego thinks it is. Perhaps, you’ve been stuck and struggling with money, love relationship, work or addiction for a long while now. If the root cause of this issue has to do with early family dynamics, that is what you will be dreaming about.

DREAMS ARE SHOWING US MORE THAN WE CAN SEE WITH THIS WAKING CONSCIOUSNESS

To our waking consciousness, some dreams can seem bizarre, scary, mysterious, embarrassing and unworthy of even writing down, let alone booking a dreamworking session! We naturally judge our dreams as good, relevant, or not. Your dreams are showing you exactly what you need to see at this time. Dreams are an integral part of our evolving life’s journey. If you can, I invite you to trust what comes.

THERE IS A REAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE WAY DREAMS ARE DELIVERED TO US.

I have been listening and weaving the messages of my dreams into the fabric of my life for over twenty years now. What I’ve experienced is a real intelligence in the way dreams are being delivered to us.

For example, in my twenties when I was suffering with chronic asthma, I was mostly having health-related dreams offering me clues – one after another – around how to disentangle myself from the health crisis I was in. In other words, my dreams weren’t nagging me about my life’s purpose at a time when I was suffering with asthma attacks and badly needing answers on that front. I am still in awe and marvel at this brilliance. Perhaps you are slowly starting to get a sense of the way dreams are continuously guiding us. No matter what situations you’re in, dreams will be offering you the next clue in the unfolding story of your life.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN A PRIVATE SESSION?

Our sessions begin with bringing our focus to a remembered dream, whether from recent memory or going back further, perhaps even to childhood. After speaking about the dream, we go deeper, and you will be gently guided to embody the dream by moving into one part of it.

Anyone can do this. I’ve never met anyone who cannot. What unfolds from within this space is beautiful and profound because we begin to unravel what the dream is asking us to see underneath the story line. With these important insights, we go back into the dream and through a guided process you will emerge with a new vision. At this point it feels like we have unraveled a small piece of the great mystery of your life. Most of you will have a clear sense of the way the dream is connected to your life and what it’s asking for and sometimes this realization comes after the session. My process involves allowing the work to unfold and reveal itself in a natural way.

You will feel the impact of this work as a lived embodied experience. We will end the session with suggestions on how to integrate these new insights into your daily life.

GROUP WORK

When someone shares a dream, there’s a resonance that ripples through and beyond the collective field of all the participants. Synchronicities are very common and the themes that emerge are usually familiar and touch the very fabric of our being. Anytime we gather and share our dreams as a group, we see ourselves in each other’s dreams and there is shared healing that unfolds naturally. The process itself is transformational.
